Welcome to the Los Padres Surf Club!

Welcome to the Los Padres Surf Club blog! That translates into "The Parents" Surf Club for those of you who struggled in Spanish 101. So truth be told, there is no "official" club. This blog is simply the musings of a couple who love to surf, but have two young boys that take precedent over water time.  Before we had kids, we surfed all the time. Since we've had kids... well... not so much. It's not for a lack of trying, but our hectic life has gotten in the way of our attempts to paddle out. We know we're not alone, and that's pretty much the point of this blog. We want to share our experiences with other parents who wish they were surfing more, but aren't able to at this point in their lives. We'll periodically update this blog with beach adventures, joys, frustrations, tidbits and tips for keeping the stoke alive, and ways to stay fit to make the most out of the precious water time we do get as we try to coax our kids into enjoying the feeling of sliding across the face of a wave. We hope you enjoy what we have to offer!

We are the Folkert family, currently based in the Santa Cruz area of California. Sara teaches middle schoolers at Gateway School in Santa Cruz, while Tim stays at home with the boys. When Sara comes home, Tim heads off to moonlight as a professional surfboard builder as the shaper/designer/owner of Migration Surfboards. Our boys are 3 and 1 and are full of energy! Thanks for checking out our blog and we hope you come back and visit us on a regular basis!
